Part 1: Cestum veneris, also known as Venus girdle, is a pelagic species of comb jelly in the Cestidae family, found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. It swims horizontally using muscular contractions and comb row beating, eating small crustaceans. Cestum veneris is the largest known ctenophores and has strong regeneration abilities, allowing it to regrow damaged portions and excrete an immobilizing substance to stun catch before feeding. It is the only member of its genus, Cestum, and is found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide.

Part 2:

I compared the Venus Girdle (comb jelly) to the Portuguese Man of War. Even though the Portuguese Man of War looks like a jelly fish, it's not. The Portuguese Man of War is surprising cousins to the Venus Girdle comb jelly. The Portuguese Man of War stings and the Venus Girdle doesn’t. Check out this cool YouTube video on them both!
